Project Brief

Recently there has been a push by University of Utah skaters to establish a place on campus where skateboarding is welcomed. Through the efforts of the UofU Skate Club, an underutilized basketball court by the University Dorms has been cleared as a DIY space for skaters to bring obstacles. In this project, I examined elements of skate spots, geometry, and public spaces to design a sculptural obstacle that engages both skaters and non-skaters.
